I had picked a paladin since I knew that the class was new to horde and had hopes of raiding upon hitting 70. I rolled my character up the week the burning crusade went live. The employer I worked for when I started playing again has several individuals with horde characters...they assured me that since alliance has larger numbers, horde players tend to be more mature and I'd have the option to possibly join one of their guilds.
I picked a server at the prompting of one of my coworkers...and that server is LightBringer. I already have several characters on the alliance server of Icecrown from back when the game launched, so Lightbringer would be new...a fresh start.
I read a lot about the class before & during my leveling. I switched to protection for aoe grinding and fumbled my way up to 40. I then stopped playing since I'd burnt myself out on the game. It took me about 4 months of downtime to return. When I did come back to WoW, it wasn't with any new insight to the class, but rather I'd read Jame's Leveling Guides and was blown away. Finally, direction and insight to how best level your character through questing & not grinding!
This made the next 18 levels very nice...I felt I was getting the most out of my time. Upon hitting level 58, I went to the outland and its phat loot.
Recently I found Lightheaded and have found this to be indespensible for collecting gold for quests I missed along the way. I have a couple alts which I add a level to now & then, this most certainly makes it a painless process.
I was in for a bit of a shock at 69 however....after being in my guild for nearly a 1/2 year, a new paladin joined at level 70...and was protection! I immediately felt threatened that my place in the raid would be lost. I opted then to become a healadin...something my coworkers had tried to prepare me for...but something I thought I wouldn't have to do. Healbot certainyl makes this process painless...but there is something missing to the game when you only look at bars and right click/ left click appropriately.
Well, I promised a short post for this first posting and I'll keep it at that. I will plan on sharing my thoughts and insight to this class in the upcoming days.
